Sit and Stitch Groups - FREE!
We have groups that gather at the shop around the big table to sit and knit and crochet and they are free to join in and bring what ever you are working on!
Thursdays from 11:30ish-3pm
Saturdays from 10:30am-3pm (Please note days that have classes these ours may be slightly adjusted or moved to another room in the shop)
The Second Thursday of the Month is our Late Night Sit & Stitch & Spin! 4pm-7pm and bring any project or craft, including spinning and weaving projects! We have room for e-spinners, drop spindles, and floor wheels for spinning and we have room for both table and floor looms up to 28 inches.
The First Saturday of the Month we are starting a Spin in group! Come on out and bring your e-spinners, drop spindles, and floor wheels and share your tips and tricks and the love of spinning! This is an informal meet-up during the normal sit and stitch times.
Westknits MKAL Party!
October 3rd from 4pm-7pm
It’s the 15th annual MKAL season! This year’s shawl is called Go Go Dynamo. It’s going to be a lively energetic design filled with bold geometric details, so come on out and join the party!
Pizza served along with wine, water and coffee. Pizza will arrive around 5-5:30pm. Feel free to bring a snack to share. Please reserve your FREE ticket Here by October 1st for accurate head count.
Magic loop Sock Class
Ready to knit your first pair of socks? Join Cathie as she walks you through all the fun of knitting your very own socks! You will learn to knit a cuff down pair of DK weight socks with the magic loop technique in this 3 part class. Please note you will have homework to complete between the classes.
Materials needed:
1 skein of DK weight yarn. Preferably a super wash merino yarn, that is not too dark or wildly variegated so you can read your knitting.
1 pair of US 3 or 3.25mm circular needles 32inch in length. Can be metal or wood, your preference
Please knit and block a 4.5x4.5” swatch in stockinette stitch once you sign up for the class and bring it with you.
Materials are not included in the class but you can purchase before the class or bring your own if you have these in your stash.
Cost: $75
Dates: November 2nd, 9th, and 16th 2:30pm-4:30pm
Private Lessons:
We are opening up Private Lesson availability for Knit or Crochet starting in mid October. Currently our teacher availability will be mornings on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. You must call the shop to schedule and pre-pay for your lesson. Cost is $45 for 1 hour.
CLASS REGISTRATION & CANCELLATION
1. If you would prefer to sign-up over the phone, call The Modern Skein at 936-436-3615 with credit card pay for a spot.
2. There is a $5 cancellation fee. A 5-day notice is required for cancellation without additional penalty. Cancellations made within 5 days of a class are subject to a 50% class charge. Cancellations made the day of class and no-shows are not refundable.
3. Classes may be cancelled in the event of insufficient sign-ups - if we/the teacher has to cancel a class you will be notified & will be given a full refund.
